FULL DESCRIPTION

Principles of Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning is a textbook based on the 2009 ASHRAE Handbook - Fundamentals. It contains the most current ASHRAE procedures and definitive, yet easy to understand, treatment of building HVAC systems, from basic principles through design and operation.

It is suitable both as a textbook and as a reference book for undergraduate engineering courses in the field of air conditioning, heating, and ventilation; for similar courses at technical and vocational schools; for continuing education and refresher short courses for engineers; and for adult education courses for professionals other than engineers, especially when combined with 2009 ASHRAE Handbook - Fundamentals.

The material is divided into three major sections: General Concepts, Chapters 1-10; Air-Conditioning Systems, Chapters 11-16; and HVAC&R Equipment, Chapters 17-19. There are several significant changes in this revised edition. Chapter 4 has a new format as well as new values for climatic design information. Chapter 5 has a new table for typical thermal properties (resistance and thermal conductivity) of common building and insulating materials. This includes new values of heating, wind, cooling, and dehumidifying design conditions. Chapter 6 has been extensively revised with new design data. In addition, the chapters on system design and equipment have been significantly revised to reflect recent changes and concepts in modern heating and air-conditioning system practices. A new chapter, 20 - Heat Exchange Equipment, gives more details on heat exchanger design.

Designed for the digital world and an expanding universe of metadata users, RDA: Resource Description and Access is the new, unified cataloging standard. Benefits of RDA includeA structure based on the conceptual models of FRBR (functional requirements for bibliographic data) and FRAD (functional requirements for authority data) to help catalog users find the information they need more easilyA flexible framework for content description of digital resources that also serves the needs of libraries organizing traditional resourcesA better fit with emerging technologies, enabling institutions to introduce efficiencies in data capture and storage retrieval.

This full-text print version of RDA offers a snapshot that serves as an offline access point to help solo and part-time catalogers evaluate RDA, as well as to support training and classroom use in any size institution. An index is included. The online RDA Toolkit includes PDFs, but purchasing the print version offers a convenient, time-saving option.
