ASME B18.2.1 - 2010 Square, Hex, Heavy Hex, and Askew Head bolts and Hex, Heavy Hex, Hex Flange, Lobed Head, and Lag Screws (Inch Series); ISBN: 9780791833100 - American Society of Mechanical Engineers *** ASME B18.2.1 is a backbone document in the fastener industry. It defines the requirements for a large percentage of fasteners used in North America and is referred to in many other documents, including ASTM and SAE publications. ***

This Standard covers the complete general and dimensional data for nine product types of inch series square and hex bolts and screws. Hex flange head and lobed head designs are new in this revision, as are screw sizes 1 5/8, 1 7/8, and 3 1/8 through 6 inches. Appendices covering gages and gaging information plus formulas on which dimensional data are based are included. Heavy hex structural bolts, formerly covered in ANSI B18.2.1, are now covered in ASME B18.2.6.

Key changes to this 2010 revision include:

Additional head types (hex flange and lobed heads) and additional sizes commonly used (1-5/8, 1-7/8, and sizes 3-1/8 through 6 inches) have been added to make the standard more comprehensive.

The organization of the standard has been changed—making finding information easier and faster, and eliminating some redundancy that existed in previous revisions.

This is the foundational bolt standard for inch-dimensioned industrial products. All companies that manufacture, sell, or use inch bolts should have this revision in their technical library.

Intended for engineering and quality personnel specifying and/or inspecting inch dimensionally based bolts used in the design and manufacturing of industrial products.

ASME B18.2.1 is a backbone document in the fastener industry. It defines the requirements for a large percentage of fasteners used in North America and is referred to in many other documents, including ASTM and SAE publications.
